Fellow Star Trek Fans,

As Commander Balok has informed you, we are running a bit behind schedule. There is an old Earth saying... “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” In our case, it seems the best-laid plans “Of Gods and Men,” have succumbed to the meaning of that phrase in that no matter how carefully a complex project is planned, making a film of this magnitude is certainly more “art than science.”

As Balok states, we can only emphasize our feeble explanations that our production team is comprised of mostly volunteers... all of whom are working other jobs to put food on the table...and that they still have more work to do, just like on a big budget movie.

You see, our goal is to honor the legacy of Gene Roddenberry on the 40th Anniversary with an Internet mini-series tribute worthy of Star Trek and its ideals. Such lofty goals require us to choose quality over expediency. Thus, we are working diligently to insure it has the look and feel of a big budget movie at a fraction of what Hollywood spends!

In addition to presenting the first couple of minutes of the film (beginning April 15th at 17:01 EST)... we have released a newly revamped website. Our Web Page presents many exclusive features, such as galleries filled with hundreds of photos, blooper reels, interviews, Trek-toids, discussion boards and much, much more. Please subscribe to our newsletter so you will receive the latest updates on our progress and tell all your friends.

The Adventure is just beginning...

May you live long and prosper,

-"Of Gods and Men" Production Team

This is Trek. By all means, take the time to do it right. Sure... a few people may grumble under their breath. But your audience will still be here when you're ready to show it. Those that have moved on, well... perhaps they weren't the right audience to begin with.

The only thing that is safe to say is that it won't be released until it is 100% perfect!

I'd just like to assure the fans, the I for one have given up on sleep. We of the CG department are working like little demented beavers, building models, painting (texture mapping), lighting and animating. All I can say in defence, the wait will be TOTALLY worth it! I may be biased, but the shots we the team are working on, will be of the highest quality and visualy dramtic.

Okay, now that I have that off my chest, the feelings of guilt can lessen, right Peter? Peter?!?

Thanks to Tim and the entire production team for even making this happen in the first place! With all of the CGI work needed, it is a miracle you have come this far into it without any quirks, or is that Quarks so far!

We will wait, we all will wait for the production team to finish their work so that we can once again relive the Star Trek magic!

I wish you all the best, and, from all the grateful Star Trek fans out there...

Thanks from the bottom of our collective hearts for making this wonderful 40th Anniversary tribute come to life.

*ahem*

I resent the use of my avatar for the delay announcement in a cheap attempt to attach my widely-recognized "star power" to this project without my express permission. I hope the proper authorities will be made aware of my concerns.

We the fans in Sweden are sooo looking forward to the first webisode. Of course, we all hoped for release the last night, but I for one understand that the process of making this huge thing can be overwhelming and take more time than expected.

I am down the the 100% getting it right additude. Trust me Ive made a few films and at the very last moment something will catch my eye and it will delay the release until its 100% to my liking. I want to give thanks to all involved with this project, without you we wouldnt really have anything. Oh yeah um a quote from a person on another board told me to utter.

Hi All,

Totally understand production delays. Still...looking forward to the webisodes. Thank you all (cast, crew, tribbles) for taking the time and making the effort to bring this to us fans!

Peace!

Trust me, I know how it goes. Making Star Trek: Hathaway has faced it's fair share of delays. I think it's fairly expected with volunteer work as a good portion of fan films face delays. Ninety-nine percent of the fan base will patiently wait and thank you for putting quality over a quick release. For the 1% who grumble, well, they can get a 100% refund of the money they paid to view it ;).
