Freaking awesome! Thanks so much for all the effort. Great battle scenes and conclusion. This is a definite classic. :D

Oh, and as sweet as CP's ride is, it's got some great paint on it as well. (In case anyone missed it, Curate Primes ship was designed and built by Bill (TallGuy) Thomas. And okay, I did the textures).
And rendered by Roland, Wil, and Henry. And blown up by same. A real team effort, that ship. *sniff* I miss her.

Well, speaking of cruel and torturous, the members of the team (all people who are not me - I think it was Peter, Henry, and Michael - I think) performed their wizardry frame by frame on Mitch's eyes. Yikes! They did a heck of a job, eh? I've been seeing that footage without the eye FX for well over a year now (it was filmed in September 2006!) and seeing it with the glow was like watching all new scenes.

Not to mention the special lightning effects and Ralph making is voice 'god like'. A massive improvement from the rough cut of the film.

Me and my family very much enjoyed Gods and Men.
We saw the film all in one go (none of this ‘watch half-an-hour of it every few months’ rubbish), and we saw it on a nice big TV (not in a window on a monitor!).

I loved the way the film misled you into thinking Charlie was the Big Evil who had taken over the galaxy – until it was revealed that it was Gary Mitchell…or, as I yelled at the top of my voice “OH MY GOD IT’S GARY F—KING MITCHELL!!!” (I couldn’t quite make out what my neighbour yelled back…). *Brilliant* surprise twist.

I’m also glad everyone kept their memories of what happened afterwards – too many episodes (like that Next Gen one where the future’s changed, as well as loads of other Treks and Stargates) end with a cheap ‘reset’ where no-one remembers a thing.
Overall a very enjoyable film. Thanks (and do another one!)

Maybe Kirk had something to do with Sally Kellerman character being on the Enterprise and with him gone and her not being there to help stop Gary he took over the Federation

Thanks everyone for the discussions!

There are so many possibilities of what the Universe would have been w/o Kirk, but we just thought Gary Mitchell was destined to obtain God-like powers from the Great Barrier, no matter who was in command of the Enterprise.

And, with no Kirk in existence, we thought Mitchell would surely rise to power and indeed, take over the Federation.

And the other significant thing is that what happend with Mitchell happened before anything else (barring of course 'The Cage') so it is concievable that mitchell some how stopped the other Galactic or Earth based threats that kirk did.

Maybe not that far fetched, since it appears that Gary Mitchell conquered both the Klingon and Romulan Empires, as well as the Cardassians.
