... absolutly no idea how this jump from ENT-B to M?!

The "M" designates the ship as a museum ship. So it is not a jump from B to M in the official line of ships. Don't forget that Kirk's first shipo was destroyed in "Star Trek III ".
But one could speculate that they harboured pieces of the ship later and maybe used old parts, that were build out during the refit before the " Motion Picture".

We don't even know if the Enterprise 1701 line ever got to M, we now for sure it got to J in the 26th century. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean... absolutly no idea how this jump from ENT-B to M?!
Okay, easiest solution would be: it's a mirror universe, things develop differntly there and thats all we need to know.
A somehow poor explenation, bot the only I could think of. But for I do not know the writers' intention: pure speculation from my side.

It is a replica - a museum, really - constructed to honor all the pioneers of Starfleet, and dedicated to Kirk (who, at this time, was thought dead on the Enterprise-B 12 years previously). It's purpose is to educate the worlds of the Federation about its history...

And the M is to designate Museum - not a jump in the registry letters or to suggest there have been 10 more Enterprises in the past few years...

I finally got to see pts. 1 and 2. And the wait was worth it. This movie rocks! For me, the ultimate Trek story. Nichelle Nichols must be in heaven. Finally an Uhura story worthy of her talents. The Trek alumni is awesome. Some reprising familiar roles and some in new ones. Love the inclusion of the current online trek series actors as well. When the teaser started I wondered if the mystery man was Charlie X but wasn't sure. MY GOD! Charlie X, the Guardian, Harriman, Chekov, Tuvok, Uhura.......I'm dizzy. The special effects and the ships rock. Can't wait for part 3. When all of this is finally released online, will it then be available on dvd? If so I'll gladly pay you now. There are not enough kudos in the galaxy to award to this movie. Thank you Tim Russ. :buttrock:
